Welcome to the
Sussex Longdog Association
Official Website
The Sussex Longdog Association was founded back in 1979 by a group of lurcher enthusiasts. The aims of the club when first started was to bring together people with a common interest in "longdogs"
In 1979 the term longdog was used to encompass all running dogs Lurchers, Greyhounds and Whippets. To this end we still hold race meetings fortnightly from March to November, weather permitting, at Broad Farm Hellingly, which is between Hailsham and Horam on the A267 just north of the "Boship roundabout".
We start booking in at 10.00 a.m. with last entries at 10.30 a.m. sharp. During the course of the season we also run our own version of the American style Lure Coursing. If you have never seen this don't confuse it with the Zig Zag Zig of country shows. For more details of events, go to the Events page.
