Veterans            Open to dogs 6 years and over run in the same classes as above usually over three meetings during the season        The cost of entering a dog in a race is £2.00. BUT each dog will be guaranteed three runs.

Dogs will be entered in the normal way and the names of owners and dogs will be entered on the specific category entry form. Once all entries have been received dogs will be drawn into groups A,B,C etc and entered on the group results sheet. At the point of draw dogs will automatically receive a collar colour that they will keep throughout the day.

The first set of races will be over 150m. Dogs will be judged over this distance but they will run 250m. The results will be entered on the specific group result sheet at the end of every race. The second set of races will be over 250m and the third set over 350m. Thereby hopefully giving sprinters and stayers a chance to race more equally.

When all the races have been completed the scores for individual dogs will be added up and rosettes will be awarded to the six highest scoring dogs in each category. Two dogs equal first = two red rosettes issued but no second, then 3rd – 4th and so on

League points will be awarded differently to the rosettes with all the highest scoring dogs in each group scoring six points, the next highest scoring dogs scoring five points (regardless of what colour rosette they have won) and so on down to one point. It should now be apparent that from day one as long as we are achieving more than one group in each category that more than one dog in each category will be achieving maximum league points each week.

The original draw for groups will introduce the element of chance and sometimes the fastest dogs in any category will be drawn together in the same group giving less able dogs the opportunity to accrue top points in another group and sometimes the top dogs will be spread more evenly across the groups allowing the second and third fastest dogs in any category the chance to accumulate top points.

Points System

At the end of the season the six highest scoring members dogs in each class, receive a trophy at the prize giving dinner. The highest scoring dogs in each class will also receive a perpetual trophy to hold for one season.
